What it is
MOTS-c is a peptide encoded in mitochondrial DNA rather than in the nucleus of the cell. Its name is short for mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA type-c, which describes where in the mitochondrial genome the sequence sits. It is sixteen amino acids long and belongs to a small group of molecules known as mitochondrial-derived peptides. It occurs naturally: researchers have measured it in human plasma and in skeletal muscle. In research it has been studied in the context of mitochondrial function, cellular energy production and metabolic efficiency, including insulin-sensitivity signalling, and for the same reason it appears in longevity research.
What is in the pen
One compound, no blend. The pen contains MOTS-c and nothing else, so the figure on the label is all MOTS-c. It comes in two strengths, 10mg and 20mg. Both are the same compound in the same format; the 20mg simply holds twice as much. Every pen is the same 3ml cartridge supplied with 12 needles, and the only thing that changes between the two is the amount of MOTS-c inside. We do not advise on which strength to choose. The price of each strength is printed further up this page, and the stock badge there tells you what is available right now.
How it is tested
Every product in the range is tested by Janoshik Analytical, an independent laboratory, and the reports are published rather than described. The ones held for this product are linked above, each named by the compound it covers, and every link goes to verify.janoshik.com, the laboratory's own domain, not to a file hosted on this site. That distinction is the whole point: a report on the laboratory's own server is a record a seller cannot edit, while a certificate hosted on a shop's own website is a picture of one. A report is evidence of identity and purity for the sample submitted, and nothing else. If you want to know what has been tested most recently before you order, ask on WhatsApp and you will get a straight answer.
Common questions
- Can I collect MOTS-c in Marbella today?
- The stock is held in Marbella. You message the WhatsApp number, we confirm what is in stock, and collection in person or delivery along the Costa del Sol is arranged in the same conversation. When it is in stock locally it is usually the same day. When Marbella is sold out, the same product is generally available from the United Kingdom on the same number, and it ships from there instead.
- Is MOTS-c the same as NAD+?
- No. NAD+ is a coenzyme, a small molecule that is not a peptide. MOTS-c is a peptide of sixteen amino acids encoded in mitochondrial DNA. They are two different molecules, and each has its own page on this site.
- Will you tell me how to use MOTS-c?
- No. We do not advise on use and we publish no dosing. These are research materials, and anything of that kind is a conversation for a qualified healthcare professional.
Research use only. Every product on this page is supplied for laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use, and not a medicine. Understanding how you are responding helps when reviewing whether your programme is still right. We do not publish dosing amounts; any change to dosing should be discussed with a qualified healthcare professional.
